Bake, Wrap, Mail

Our Sunday was productive and enjoyable! We had Christmas music playing and had some fun together as a family. I suppose it would have felt more festive is it was snowing, but instead we had clouds, mist and fog! I sure don't mind the warmer weather either.

My youngest daughter and I made peanut butter fudge early in the day. This was one of our planned holiday goodies. I had everything on hand so no last minute store run to get it done. We did eat a little of it today. It tasted really wonderful! I will freeze about one third of the batch, Another third, or fourth, will be sent to work with my husband to share with his co workers later this week. I'm going to add some of the cookies we already have in the freezer to the fudge that he will take to work.

The wrapping station I set up earlier this month is still set up. It came in handy today for my husband. He was wanting to wrap my gift and asked if there were some boxes and wrapping paper. Well, yes honey! I said it is all set up downstairs and there should be everything you need. It seems it worked for him since he came up with three wrapped gifts and one in a gift bag. I later used the wrapping station to wrap four gifts I needed to mail, as well as a gift for the flute teacher. At this point, I'm just waiting for three packages to arrive so I can complete our wrapping for the season.

I also spent some time looking at the gifts that will be put in stockings. I'm very tempted to put the items in my girls stockings now rather than on Christmas Eve. I don't think they would look. But I do know I have a little chocolate, so that would have to wait so it doesn't melt when we turn the fireplace on. With that thought, I think I'll just wait and keep to tradition! The gifts we have for my family, which also be placed in stockings, were put in gift bags based on family. When it comes time to stuff, we will know where items are. This has worked great in the past.

The packages I need to mail are ready to go with addresses and are all sealed up. I don't think I will mail them until the end of the week, so they don't arrive too early. Although I dread going to the post office. I'm thinking mid afternoon on Thursday might not be too busy. I might try my very local small town post office. It might be easier to get in and out of. I suppose the key is to just be patient and expect a line!

I'm expecting today be productive as well. I have some items to return to at least three stores. I also have more baking to do. I picked up two rolls of prepared sugar cookie dough this weekend to contribute to the next two bake sales the music association is having. I will need to cook chicken for the chicken enchiladas we will have for dinner. If I have more time, I will make a Mushroom Barley soup for later in the week. It will go into the freezer if I get it done.

Did you have a productive weekend? Did you do any baking, or wrapping? Do you mail packages at Christmas? Or do you deliver all your gifts in person?

  2. Thank you for mentioning sending fudge and cookies to your husband's work! That's something I need to do! I am familiar with most of my Mister's coworkers and am sort of friends with most of them, so sending cookies in with him next week would probably be a good idea!

    1. Glad I could help! We were going to have a holiday party at our house, but that didn't get planned, so cookies are the next best thing.
