I Took A Break

I didn't realize I needed a break, but apparently I did. My Thursday was not full of anything as far as Christmas preparations go. I ended up watching a movie during the day! The truth is we do need to take breaks from time to time. Do something different. Take our mind of our lists. So I'm not feeling bad about it at all.

I did run a few errands in the morning prior to the movie watching. I was able to get fuel in my van and ran it through the car wash. I also got cash for some upcoming outings where we will need to pay admission. I also made a quick stop at Super Target for some ingredients for an easy dinner.

I made this recipe for Chicken Tortilla Soup. I had it put together in less than 15 minutes. It was really very good. My husband complemented it, so that is good! I think we ate it all, too! It was a nice change from some of our regular meals. I do highly recommend it for it's simplicity and ease of preparation. Oh, and I did add a small can of diced chilies, and skipped the cilantro and avocado.

I did do two loads of laundry and made sure to get the kitchen tidy after breakfast and dinner. Sometimes the small things count and time for ourselves to relax are perfectly fine to make a priority, right? Right!

Do you take breaks for yourself when you feel you need them or schedule them in or a combination of both?

  1. Yes, I'm having a break right now while both kids are sleeping. I'm not feeling guilty because I've done two loads of washing, just waiting on it to dry then I'll put it away. I need to do a quick tidy later and prep dinner, which is just adding chinese glaze to pork steaks and letting that marinade. For now, it's break time.

  2. I am actually planning on taking a break in about an hour, ha! This week has been off, in too many ways, and I just want to...step away from trying to get *everything* done.
    Breaks are good, they are necessary. I think I will need to schedule more breaks in. :)
