Today in my Christmas Cleanout, I went looking through a hall closet which holds a lot of random items.
Let's start with the important before pictures!
I started top to bottom and reviewed the games. All keep! The two bins to the side hold art supplies and Legos. Dug out some paper the girls left in with the Legos years ago. Recycled. Asked about letting the Legos go...one said to keep. I may move these to her room, possibly moving them to a smaller container if they will fit.
In the art bin, I found brown floral tape, a dried up permanent marker and tacky glue to toss.
The fabric bin holds light bulbs primarily. All keep, in addition to the cleaning supplies and paper towels.
On the third shelf, I let go of two plastic planter drip trays. It's hard to see, but there's a bag of six cans of canned food our cat can no longer eat. I gave these to a neighbor. I still have a bag of prescription drugs that need to go, but I can't find a place that is actually accepting these currently. This is kind of odd to me!
The blue bins on the third and fourth shelves hold our stash of batteries and supplies for hurricane season. I tested all the opened batteries and found a few to let go, along with some extra packaging.
Also in the hurricane supplies, I let go of candles, opened wipes, a battery operated clock and a emergency radio. We just went through a storm this year that knocked out our power for almost 6 days. We had a generator this time and we don't feel these few items would be needed in the future. We have other radio options too.
There's also a silver container that we have used as a planter and a trash can over the years. It is no longer needed, so I'm letting it go as well. Honestly, I am hesitating slightly on it I like the idea of using it as Christmas porch decor. I will update you as this challenge wraps up to see if I really did let it go!
The packaging from my new ornament sets where stashed into this closet, but I did move them to the garage with the other decorations. I don't know yet if we will use them to store the ornaments after the holiday or not. Sometimes it's hard to get them back in the right way!
Time for the after pictures!
I made some empty space in there!
The space is not perfectly organized, but it is now decluttered. A Christmas Cleanout success!
