It helps to clean out the fridge when your food stash is low. Don't cause yourself more stress by cleaning it just after you went to the grocery store.
I know that picture above looks pretty clean, but really there are foot bits and drips that need to be cleaned up. Proof is in the picture below.
I set the timer, filled the sink with hot soapy water, and found my microfiber cloths to get this job started. I started from the top down. Any food bits that get wiped down from above will get picked up at the bottom. Work with gravity my friends!!
My other tip when cleaning a refrigerator is to remove items from one shelf or area at a time. Wipe down and dry.
Put back only unexpired and edible foods. Toss anything else that does not meet your standards. Move to the next shelf or area.
I didn't have anything to toss. So I put everything back nice and pretty.
Any guesses if I beat my timer?
This is a rather small refrigerator. So, yes, I was able to beat the clock and clean it out in 10 minutes 10 seconds! I had nearly five minutes to spare.
I tend to clean our refrigerators out every quarter at a minimum. I find the more often I tend to it, the less time it takes. If it has been a very long while since you cleaned yours, you have a lot of expired food or a large refrigerator it will take longer. Even if you only get half done in 15 minutes that would be progress, right?
If you try to beat the clock and clean your refrigerator, let me know how it went!
What did you do today when you set your timer for 15 minutes?
