15 Minute Challenge: Meal Planning

Just 15 minutes! It's so motivational. I like to see if I can beat the clock on a dreaded task particularly. Today I was not looking forward to making my meal plan and grocery list for the week, so I decided to see if putting that timer on for 15 minutes would help motivate me to get it done in less time and keep my focus.

I had pen and paper ready, as well as my computer to do a quick search of recipes. During the process I pulled out one of two cookbooks I own to look up ingredients.

First step was to decide on dinner meals. We are going out of town soon, so the number of meals I needed to plan was only five. In the end I picked four meals. The final night before our trip we will try to use up any leftovers rather than overbuying.

Next up listing the regular items we tend buy for breakfast and lunch. Then I added all the ingredients for the meals I planned. I tend to write my list in the order that things are set up in the store. Do you do that for your lists?

Amazingly I DID beat the clock this week! My meal planning and grocery list took me 10 minutes and 32 seconds to complete. Just before we left for the store, I thought of a couple more items to add to the list, but that was mere seconds.

I really may try doing this in the future (may not report here) for meal planning. I spend too much time over thinking things!

Do you think you could meal plan in 15 minutes? How long do you think it takes?

What did you complete when you set your timer for 15 minutes?

    1. I'm sure I usually take much longer than 15 minutes, but I often get distracted during the process!
