Fifteen Minute Challenge: Seconds to Spare

It's the first day of the 15 Minute Challenge!

My initial plan was to iron a pair of pants. Here's what happened after I set my timer on my phone.

First, I went to the laundry room where I set up the ironing board (in my hallway) and plugged in my iron. Next, I found my new black pants in the closet. I realized they still had tags attached, so I found a pair of scissors in the linen closet (also in the hallway) and clipped them off. I threw the tags in the trash can, located in the laundry room. The iron was hot enough by this time so I ironed until nearly wrinkle free!

At this point, I was hoping to get the pants, the iron and ironing board put away before the timer went off. Guess what? I made it, all put away and only 7 minutes and 30 seconds had elapsed!! Does that surprise you? It did me just a little.

As luck would have it the dryer buzzer went off when I was about to turn off the light in the laundry room. Inside that dryer were rags, kitchen towels and the sheets to our bed. Light bulb moment. I decided to see if I could get the sheets on the bed before the remaining 7 minutes and 30 elapsed.

The bed was just as I left it after pulling these same sheets off earlier in the morning. Quickly, I started with the fitted sheet, then the flat sheet (yes, even did the hospital corners), pulled on our quilt, tossed a fleece blanket on the foot board, and put pillowcases back on the two pillows.

The timer showed I had 2 minutes and 10 seconds remaining. I kept going. I folded the towels and rags AND put them back where they are stored (linen closet, laundry room and kitchen).

I did all that in less than 15 minutes. I had 24 seconds to spare!!

I challenge you. What can you do in 15 minutes today?
