Christmas Cleanout: Day 18 of 20

I'm nearing the end of my Christmas Cleanout series. The goal was to have 20 reports of progress, this is number 18. I am thrilled with the progress this challenge has provided for me! The idea came just by reading about some others decluttering this month, as well, as feeling the energy to start anew, to wipe the slate clean. This kind of energy is often felt in the new year for many of us, but this year it came early for me!

Today's report is more kitchen decluttering. I have really become aware of  things I don't use because I don't like them or they are broken. Time to get these items out!

Cups, mugs, and water bottles stored in this cabinet. And the coffee!

We have other mugs, but they were in the dishwasher.

I pulled out three water bottles, an extra plastic cup, two plastic straws and an odd wine glass

The water bottles both had broken. I do like this size, but have moved towards glass and have a large stainless steel one I should use instead. Out with the broken and unused!

It's just a few things from one cupboard. I am considering paring down to even fewer mugs (might get new ones soon) and glasses. Dawn from The Minimal Mom (on YouTube) mentions putting those items we aren't sure about into 'quarantine' for a while to really know if the items are needed. If you put them away and don't use in two months, six months or a year, then you know that you never needed them and they don't need to be stored in your precious cupboard space.I may do this with a few things in January and see what happens!

Here is the after of the cupboard:

A little less.

I am honestly imagining an even more streamlined cupboard with even less.

I'll keep you updated if I pare down even more. If a glass is dirty, we can just wash it instead of storing extra, right? This is where corralling extras in a separate place for a while would help me decide.

Do you have excess wine glasses, drinking glasses, cups, mugs and water bottles? How many vessels for fluids do we need?
